CZ PowerBoom

Naturally being in New Zealand one focuses on sailing fairly regularly.

The CZ PowerBoom effectively collects the air flowing on to and below the boom and funnels it up through the aerodynamics on to the sail. As it accelerates the air this gives the sail added pressure and over a very short period - an advantage.

Dependant on sail area and weight in the water from 0.1 to upward of 2 kts is calculated.

We looked at the Americas Cup rules very carefully and designed the PowerBoom to comply as it does not constitute a strut and does not support the boom in any way.

During the last Americas Cup many technologies were used to gain speed one of which was to deploy the largest Genoa sail the 00 size.

The 00 Genoa gave little gain and was raised only once, the circumstance where specific sails like this are used are limited where as the PowerBoom is used in ALL wind states and takes advantage at all stages of sailing both when tacking and driving into the wind and on the downward beats .

With minimal additional stress to the rigging and with no additional stowage required for new sails cruising with the PowerBoom is easy and you get there just that little bit sooner.
