Tri-LEDs (3 wires) provide a more integrated yellow light particularly if the lens is opaque. Both LED elements are more evenly matched so don't require the resistor balancing to get equal brightness as do individual LEDs. Inputs Red and Yellow are low active and Red over-rides yellow. There is a red output that would be used to interlock to a previous signal's Yellow input.
