This PIC circuit using a 12F629 drives the geared motors to a sequence and provides animation to a wayside scene. Motor drive current is sensed to know when the motor has reached its limit microswitch and when to start the next motor.
Geared motors have an inertia when running that will cause them to overshoot the limit switch so a tickler circuit is provided to send a short reverse voltage pulse to the motor to stop it quickly. Some experimenting may be needed to get the correct capacitance value for reliable stopping with no backward movement.
Four motors provide eight movements which may be consecutive or spaced, whatever your animation requires.
A dual power supply is needed, +12 - 0 - negative 12 volts. A switch mode power supply from an old PC is a good source for such a supply.
