Ahuroa, in Northland, on the way to Whangarei, is 96 Kilometres north of Auckland. Approaching from the South you go through the Tahekeroa tunnel of 447 metres and break out into the valley with Ahuroa straight ahead. Travelling on to the North you enter the Ahuroa tunnel (389 metres) and then descend to Woodcocks and the Kaipara Flats. An ideal subject for a Theatre Style Module with approaches through tunnels at both ends.Click in the thumbnail image to see full screen.

From other layouts:-

On Gary Gloag's NZ120 modules, at the west (Ashhurst ) end of the Manawatu Gorge a Da and coaches cross the second bridge heading east to Woodville. The Da loco and passenger train eastbound cross the third bridge east of the first tunnel. At the track layers hut at the western end of the Manawatu Gorge, a 'Fruit Salad' Dx heads west to Ashhurst and Palmerston North. The guards van and the last few wagons of a freight train disappear into a tunnel in the early morning light. Still on Gary's modules with stock built by George Deans whose layout is a'building.

A sight from by-gone days as a DA heads the "Endeavour" passenger service from Wellington to Napier through the Gorge.
