Useful driver circuits for animation displays etc.
The first has a slow start and stop motion controlled by the variable resistor 10K and the 220 ufd capacitor. When the switch closes the transistor turns off and the capacitor charges up to the supply voltage. Starting the motor and driving up to full speed.
When the switch opens the transistor comes on and drops the voltage supply to the capacitor to ground. It discharges slowly reducing the revs on the motor down to zero.
The second circuit gives the motor a short impulse that can be used to kick something one way or the other. I use it to set points on the N scale layout. They require only a small movement and this provides it with minimum fuss.
