This carriage was built in 1905 as a 54 seat single saloon car with longitudinal seats.

In 1947, it was converted in to its current carvan configuration with a guards compartment occupying a third of the saloon and a toilet compartment being created at the far end. Its restoration was completed in 1988 and it remains a popular vehicle with both passengers and members. It weighs a little over 16T, is 47' long, and provides seating for 24 passengers.

The guards compartment retains the stove, desk, and pigeon holes from its former life on suburban and branch-line trains.
