For such a specialist subject, a spectacularly diverse array of images have been compiled into a well priced book containing excellent reproductions and informative captions. In some cases, the lineside details capture the eye as much as the rail action itself. An example of this is the two images of Lambton Station from the late 1920's; featuring a large number of very respectably dressed commuters in the foreground and an intriguing assortment of buildings, old carriages and infrastructure in the background. Another memorable image is that of Ew 1803 hauling a stock train on the Johnsonville Line in late 1962.
