This nicely presented A4 format publication sets out the history of this often overlooked network over the books 54 pages. However, the most striking aspect of the book is its superb photo reproduction. All the images are crisp with plenty of contrast, making it a joy to immerse oneself in. The maps, plans and tables add to the experience, allowing the main text to be unburdened by deep technical information. Special mention is made of the recent restoration of Tram No 12 and thoughts of recreating an operational Tramway in Wanganui. This book is highly recommended for anyone with an interest in transport and social history.
