The text is concise but informative and relates well to the other material. Ocean Beach enthusiasts will be thrilled to see coverage of the D, compartment, and 47 1/2' open platform carriages covered although in each case our example varies from the model pictured. As carriages form a significant part of the rail journey experience, even hard core locomotive enthusiasts could be excused for adding this to their bookshelf. The back cover picture of the Auckland car yard is particularly intriguing as a wide variety of stock is visible including a couple of Ra type covered wagons, seemingly in passenger use.
