Frank G. Pitt (B.Sc., Dip. Sci.)

A little bit about me, in case anyone cares, and a picture so you all know what I look like, and have something to give to the hitman.

A picture of Frank Pitt

This picture is from the Software Education sales brochure. I rarely look this good, and that I do is down to Stephen A'Court, a local professional photographer who happens to be the brother of comediene Michelle A'Court, whom I used to go to school with. Small world, huh ?

What I Do For A Living
Thursday Februaury 1, 2001 - 23:14 AM NZDT

I'm employed as an "Information Specialist" in EDS' New Zealand Solution Centre. No, that does not make me a spy. Though being a liberal neo-anarchist socio-demcratic monarchist working for a big American company that has lots of government contracts, I'm sure there are those who would consider me one.

My current projects are primarily involved in network provisioning for Telecom's mobile network, and bespoke applications for the UK's Department of Work & Pensions The work is mainly in Java (J2EE) and an EAI tool called "Crossworlds", but I still have to write C, Perl, XML,... you name it, and coach sysadmins, DBAs, BAs, managers, customers, , and everyone else in how to do their jobs, just like every other competent developer ends up having to do to get anything done.

Prior to this I was a tutor and consultant at Software Education Associates Ltd, a local company that provides professional training for all aspects of the software development life cycle, mainly in New Zealand and Australia.

I taught programminng languages, such as C++, Java, Jade, and XML. I also taught object-oriented analysis and design, including UML and design patterns, and I trained people in software architecture.

I am a Sun Certified Java Programmer, and have both a BSc and a post-graduate Diploma of Computer Science. Recently I presented a briefing on e-business technology at the e-Business 2000 Conference here in Wellington. I was involved with the definition of the UN-CEFACT/OASIS ebXML Architecture.

I have worked for, among others, IBM's Telecommunication and Media Division, the Trunked Networks Division of Tait Electronics, and was an avionics technician for the Royal New Zealand
