Wreck attributed to accident. Master and crew appear to have
done all they could to save the vessel.

Remarks
Total wreck. The evidence would lead to the inference that she
was somewhat overladen. The proximate cause of the casualty was
the fouling of the paddle shaft by a hawser which was washed
out of the fore part of the ship by a heavy sea which broke on
board.
