The Times 8 Nov 1839
Joseph Moginie, a watchmaker residing in Princes-street Westminster
was summoned by Mr Alfred Sims of No.3 Rochester-row publican to
account for the non-production of a watch which complainant had
intrusted to him to repair in August 1838. The defendant did not appear
to the summons, and it was stated by the clerk that he had repeatedly
been summoned to that office upon a similar charge.
A gentleman in the office stated that he had sent his watch to the
defendant's shop to be repaired and he had to call 39 different times
before he could obtain it.
Mr Gregorie made an order upon the defendant for the immediate delivery
of the watch or the payment of £2 2s which the complainant said was its
value.
