"A phenomenon of rare occurrence was to be seen in the eastern
sky Tuesday morning about half-past 2 o'clock. At that hour a
lunar rainbow of exceptional brilliancy, and of a complete arc,
was visible. Its brilliancy only lasted a few seconds, and it
quickly vanished altogether. The beauties of the lunar rainbow
are appreciated principally on account of the extreme rarity
of their occurrence. The phenomenon differs from the solar
rainbow both in the source and intensity of the light by which
it is produced, and its colors are almost indefinable.
