Mr. W. M. Hall – ZL2BH

It is with profound regret that we have to record the passing, after a long and painful illness , of Mr W. M. ("Bill") Hall, ZL2BH. Most New Zealand Amateur were aware of the serious nature of Mr Hall’s illness, the greater period of which was spent at his home, but he was rushed into Hutt Hospital on 5th September and died in the institution on 28th September, aged 52 years.

ZL2BH was one of the best known ZL Amateurs and his call sign is familiar in most countries of the world, he being a confirmed DX man, and, to use his own expression "pot hunter." Bill Hall had many attributes not the least of which was his desire to help anyone interested in Ham radio, particularly beginners, as well as being a stalwart of N.Z.A.R.T., of which he was, in fact, a foundation member. The idea of the recent Art Union to augment N.Z.A.R.T. funds owes its origin to Bill Hall, and although a very sick man, he had the pleasure of seeing his work conducted to the successful conclusion that it was.

A brief autobiography of Mr Hall is appropriate:
