Notices:

Past President John was standing in for President Tony - he welcomed everyone to the meeting and asked Colin McKenzie to say Grace. ( A very thoughtful one Colin, thanks.) John reminded us that this particular evening was for Committee meetings and we would be breaking up into separate groups after the meal - meanwhile, he tossed a coin to see which table was to go first and we proceeded with our self serve meal. RAFFLE - Winners were Graham Rolston and Ian Standen

Sergeant:

Neil Climo was sergeant tonight and fined the committee with the lowest attendance ( absentees please note! ) Barry Herbert was asked to recite the names of all his committee members - he did well. Peter Nation read his off and then he proceeded to share a number of, so called, Australian jokes.(Steve sorry you missed them )

Reminders:

Barry Herbert reminded us of the fund raiser for the Indian project. This will be at the Sam Rat Indian Restaurant next Tuesday- $50 per head with part of the proceeds to this worthy project. ( Please advise Barry if you will be there.) District Governor David Watt and Michele will be visiting our Club on 30th..September- Ladies, Fellows, please mark your diary now! Rod Carter reported that he had been in touch with John Wall. He and Elisabeth have settled in well in Hamilton near their daughter and John has built up his train set considerably to the point where he is running regular 'rail shows' to interested parties. He has also met up with a Spitfire Pilot with whom he regularly shares a lot of memories. John wishes to be remembered to all our club members. He said that he really enjoys our newsletters.

Committee Meetings:

Following the meal we broke up into our groups. A number of Club members are overseas at present, hence a somewhat light attendance. Reports of discussions etc. will be printed separately.

Club Service Committee- Barry Herbert expressed his pleasure with the work being carried out by our able Club Administrators. He said that we have a high quality of reporting from very committed people. Likewise the Bulletin, he commended the Editors for a very interesting and informative content.. Discussion followed on forward programmes - meals- membership and the sometimes lack of apologies which lead to unnecessary costs for the Club.. We went through the various functions and methods of our committee with the intention of improving everywhere we could. Over Many new - and some old ideas were put forward for the consideration of the Directors.. All in all, good solid discussion.

Parting Thought:

From Colin McKenzie, - attr. Beryl Pfiser I write down everything I want to remember. That way; instead of spending a lot of time trying to remember what it is I wrote down, I spend the time looking for the paper I wrote it down on.
( Ring any bells fellows ? )
