I think we should be proud of our fine Wellington history of bike shops that have 50% sales once a fortnight and then go bust... Let's think about it...
Bicycles Unlimited - Yes it was the place to shop - It was huge, it was pink and with the magic words "Can I have a discount" you could slash prices left right and centre. I especially liked the price tags on the bikes that gave their 'Retail Price' on the front and 'Lowest Sales Scuttler Should Go Price' on the rear - bit of a giveaway really.
John Deans Cyclery - Nothing like a maniac screaming on the radio "THAT'S RIGHT 50% OFF EVERYTHING IN STORE" to fool slavering punters into thinking there were actual bargains in store. Unfortunately they'd usually turn up to a couple of mutant bikes built up with a mixture of 3 year old components, and some fake denim bike shorts (styley)
So with those proud landmarks behind us the question remains - What the hell are they on? 50% sales every fortnight don't work, never have done, never will. Why not try some good service and quality product for a change?
