Yes - I know it's a stereotypical/ unimaginative thing to be putting on mountain bike message boards but why does the debate still rage?
Those toss pots at Mountain Bike Action were predicting the death of the hardtail by 2001. Obviously not only are they a bunch of useless leg shaving spotties, but they were far off the mark.
Take Vorb for example, a lot of us have been riding mountain bikes for 8+ years. We've been through many bikes and yet the steed of choice is a hardtail with 3 odd inchs of travel up the front.
We had an interesting experience of a bit of a cultural exchange with a pack of Aucklanders. They all ride full suspension bikes. So what's with that? Cultural difference? Difference in terrain? (Wellington does have big arse hills in comparison to Auckland) Race lineage? Peer Pressure?
A bit of spam has been flying about and I thought - what better place to open it all out - Right here on Vorb Foam...
Of course, there will be no winners - only pissed off people thinking "What the hell are those crazy arse munters on about? Buckies(hardtails)/Floppies(full suspension) sucks/rocks everyone knows that...
