obert Whinham ~ sometimes spelt Hounam ~ was born about 1718 (whereabouts unknown) and married Jane ? about 1755 (marriage still to be located).

 

Robert, a drover, and Jane were the parents of:

 

  • Robert Whinham born Milkhope, Alwinton, Northumberland, England and christened at Harbottle Nc, Harbottle on 5 October 1755;

 

  • Edward Whinham born at Hawes/Halls Hill, Elsdon and christened 18 June 1758 at Harbottle Nc, Harbottle married Isabella ? about 1794 (more details below); and

 

  • John Whinham born Hawes/Halls Hill, Elsdon and christened 5 March 1761 at St Cuthbert’s, Elsdon married Eleanor Trotter on 15 July 1787 at St Andrew’s, Hartburn.

 

Robert died in Otterburn in the parish of Elsdon on 16 April 1802 and was buried at St Cuthbert’s, Elsdon on 19 April 1802 aged 84 years.

 

Jane Whinham nee ? died in Otterburn on 1 July 1803 and was buried on 3 July 1803 at St Cuthbert’s, Elsdon aged 83 years.

dward Whinham was born at Hawes/Halls Hill, Elsdon, Northumberland, England and christened on 18 June 1758 at Harbottle Nc, Harbottle, the second son of Robert and Jane Whinham.

 

Edward married Isabella ? about 1794.

 

Edward, a labourer, and Isabella were the parents of:

 

  • Robert Whinham born in Elsdon and christened 25 August 1795 at the Presbyterian Church, Birdhope Craig, Northumberland never married and died in Otterburn in Jul-Sep 1878 aged 83 years;

 

  • William Whinham born in Elsdon and christened 26 May 1797 at the Presbyterian Church, Birdhope Craig, Northumberland never married and died in Otterburn in Jul-Sep 1883 aged 86 years;

 

  • Elizabeth Whinham born in Otterburn and christened 14 July 1799 at the Presbyterian Church, Birdhope Craig, Northumberland married William Robson on 19 July 1835 at St Cuthbert’s, Elsdon (more details below); and

 

  • Mary Whinham born in Otterburn and christened 26 March 1806 at the Presbyterian Church, Birdhope Craig, Northumberland never married and died in Otterburn in Apr-Jun 1891 aged 85 years.

 

Edward died in Otterburn on 21 December 1841 and was buried on 24 December 1841 at St Cuthbert’s, Elsdon, aged 84 years.

 

Isabella Whinham nee ? died in Otterburn on 24 May 1849 and was buried at St Cuthbert’s, Elsdon on 27 May 1849 aged 86 years.

lizabeth Whinham was born in Otterburn, Northumberland, England and christened at the Presbyterian Church, Birdhope Craig on 14 July 1799, the third child of Edward and Isabella Whinham.

 

Elizabeth had an illegitimate son prior to her marriage to William Robson in 1835:

 

  • John Whinham born about 1824 in Otterburn married Elizabeth Jackson in Castleton, Roxburgh, Scotland on 20 March 1857 (please click on John’s name for further details).

 

Elizabeth married William Robson of Otterburn on 19 July 1835 at St Cuthbert’s, Elsdon.

 

Elizabeth and William, cartwright/joiner, were the parents of:

 

  • Ann Robson born 12 January 1836 in Overacres Cottage, Otterburn and christened in St Cuthbert’s, Elsdon on 17 April 1836; and

 

  • Isabella Robson born in Overacres Cottage and christened on 1 December 1839 in St Cuthbert’s, Elsdon.

 

Elizabeth Robson nee Whinham died in Overacres Cottage, Otterburn and was buried at St Cuthbert’s, Elsdon on 9 April 1879 aged 78 years.
