·              Maria Salter born in St Helen’s and christened 27 February 1780 at St Helena’s, St Helen’s;

 

·              Thomas Salter born in St Helen’s and christened 28 April 1782 at St Helena’s, St Helen’s married Sarah Sothcott on 22 May 1809 at St Helena’s, St Helen’s (more details below); and

 

·              Ann Salter born in St Helen’s and christened 18 September 1785 at St Helena’s, St Helen’s.

 

Nothing more is known about Benjamin and Hannah Salter at this time.

Thomas Salter was born in St Helen’s, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England and christened 28 April 1782 at St Helena’s, St Helen’s, the son of Benjamin and Hannah Salter.

 

Thomas married Sarah Sothcott of St Helen’s (christened 4 October 1789 at St Helena’s, St Helen’s, the daughter of John Sothcott and Jane Seward).

 

Thomas, a labourer, and Sarah were the parents of:

 

·              Caroline Salter born in St Helen’s and christened 15 July 1810 at St Helena’s, St Helen’s married Henry Heath on 30 September 1833 at All Saints, Newchurch (more details below);

 

·              Henry Southcott Salter born in St Helen’s and christened 8 March 1812 at St Helena’s, St Helen’s;

 

·              Charles Salter born in St Helen’s and christened 27 June 1813 at St Helena’s, St Helen’s;

 

·              Betsy Salter born in St Helen’s and christened 23 October 1814 at St Helena’s, St Helen’s;

 

·              Edward Salter christened 22 September 1816 at Wesleyan, Newport;

 

·              James Salter born 26 July 1822 and christened 6 October 1822 at Wesleyan, Newport;

 

·              Sarah Ann Salter christened 21 December 1823 at Wesleyan, Newport;

 

·              George Salter born 15 July 1827 and christened 13 November 1827 at Wesleyan, Newport; and

 

·              Samuel Salter born in St Helen’s and christened 18 March 1832 at St Helena’s, St Helen’s, died in St Helen’s before 1841.

 

Thomas Salter died in St Helen’s, Isle of Wight in 1847, aged 65 years.

 

Sarah Salter nee Sothcott died in St Helen’s, Isle of Wight in 1858, aged 68 years.

Caroline Salter was born in St Helen’s, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England and christened 15 July 1810 at St Helena’s, St Helen’s, the eldest child of Thomas Salter and Sarah Sothcott.

 

Caroline married Henry Heath of Gatcombe (born about 1811) on 30 September 1833 at All Saints, Newchurch.

Caroline Heath nee Salter died on 10 June 1861 in Chillerton, Newport, Isle of Wight, aged 51 years, and was buried in Mount Joy Cemetery, Carisbrooke.
