homas Rogerson’s marriage to Elizabeth has not yet been located but would have been about 1804/05. Elizabeth’s maiden name was not given in the Presbyterian records at Wooler even though several of her children were born during the Barrington period (1798-1812). Thomas, a farm servant/husbandman, and Elizabeth were the parents of: |
·
Isabel Rogerson born 29 October 1805 at
Middleton in Ilderton parish and christened 4 November 1805 at United Presbyterian Cheviot Street-Nc, Wooler
died in Wooler prior to 1814 (no burial has as yet been found);

Hampshire (please click on Isabella’s name for more information);
·
William
Rogerson born 5 August
1816 at Torvilaws, Wooler parish and

Presbyterian Cheviot Street-Nc, Wooler, about whom nothing more is known; and
·
Thomas Rogerson born at Horncastle, Kirkwhelpington and
christened at St Bartholomew’s, Kirkwhelpington on 16 October 1818 married Ann
Lee at St John the Baptist, Newcastle Upon Tyne on 3 December 1853 (please
click on Thomas’ name for more information).
There is a possible burial for Elizabeth Rogerson nee ? of Wooler on 23 October 1820 at St Mary’s, Wooler, aged 35 years. No other burial has as yet been found for Thomas’ first wife and as to why Elizabeth died in Wooler would only be speculation when two of her children died within a few months either side of her death, at Horncastle, Kirkwhelpington.
Thomas, who was 20 years her senior, and Jane Telfer began their married life at Horncastle. Unfortunately the parish register for Kirkwhelpington does not say that Thomas was a widower when he married Jane. Any help to confirm that Thomas, husband of Elizabeth, and Thomas, husband of Jane Telfer, are one and the same would be much appreciated, thank you! J
