Robert Robson 1785-1870
Robert
Robson was born at Burnmouth Houses
in the parish of Chollerton, Northumberland, England and christened 2 January
1785 at St Giles, Chollerton, the third child of Edward
Robson and Thomasine Pollard.
Robert married
his first wife Elizabeth Forster of Allendale (christened 23
April 1780 at St Andrew’s, Hexham, the daughter of George Forster)
on 18 January 1808 at St Giles, Chollerton.
Robert, a
hind/husbandman/labourer then farmer, and Elizabeth had two known
children:

George Robson
born 23 March 1810 and christened 25 March 1810 at St Giles, Birtley; and
·
Edward Robson
born 8 December 1811 at Rouchester Farm and christened at St Giles, Birtley on
12 December 1811 married Rebecca Armstrong of Carrigill,
Cumberland about 1841. Edward, an agricultural labourer, and Rebecca
were the parents of:

Elizabeth Robson
born Ovington and christened 24 July 1842 at St Andrew’s, Heddon on the Wall;
·
James Robson
born Chipchase Park House and christened 12 May 1844 at St Giles, Birtley;
·
Robert Robson
born Chipchase Park House and christened 1 March 1846 at St Giles. Birtley;
·
George Robson
born about 1851 at Chipchase Park House, Birtley; and
·
Edward Robson
born at Mollersteads and christened 12 April 1857 at Whitley Chapel near
Hexham.
Edward
died in Lanchester registration district (probably at Medomsley where Rebecca
was living in 1881), Co. Durham in 1877, aged 66 years.
Rebecca Robson nee
Armstrong died in Lanchester registration district (probably at
Medomsley), Co. Durham in 1882, aged 61 years.
Elizabeth
Robson nee Forster died on 13 December 1811 at Rouchester
Farm, five days after the birth of her son Edward,
and was buried on 13 December 1811 at St Giles, Birtley, aged 31 years.
Robert married
his second wife Mary Hedley (born at Dinley Hill
Farm and christened 17 April 1785 at St Giles, Birtley, the daughter
of Thomas
Hedley and Martha Weatherley) on 14 February 1813 at
St Giles, Birtley.

born at Rouchester Farm and christened 19 August 1814 at St Giles, Chollerton
married Ada Slater (christened 14 June
1818 at St Giles, Chollerton, the daughter of Edward Slater and Mary
Henderson) on 5 August 1839 at St Giles, Chollerton. Thomas, a farmer, and Adah were the parents of:

Mary Robson born at Burnmouth and christened 28 November 1841 at St Giles,
Chollerton;
·
Adah Robson christened 10 December 1843 at St Andrew’s, Corbridge; and
·
Robert Robson christened 12 July 1846 at St Andrew’s, Corbridge.
Adah Robson
nee Slater died in Bingfield and was buried 17 June
1856 at St Giles, Chollerton, aged 38 years.

1822 at St Giles, Chollerton, the daughter of Edward Slater and Mary
Henderson) on 18 April 1846 at St Giles, Chollerton. William,
a farm labourer, and Barbara were the parents of:

Barbara Robson christened 12 May 1848 at St Mark’s, Ninebanks;

Martha Robson christened 24 November 1850 at St Cuthbert’s, Haydon Bridge;
·
Ann Robson christened 19 July 1852 at St Cuthbert’s, Haydon Bridge;
·
Adda Robson born in Haydon Bridge and christened 3 June 1856 at St Cuthbert’s, Haydon
Bridge. Adda was the mother of:

Thomas Robson born in 1877 in Allendale, Northumberland.
·
William Robson born in Haydon Bridge in 1860 and christened 17 November 1861 at St
Cuthbert’s, Haydon Bridge.

Martha Robson
born at Comogan and christened 25 December 1819 at St Giles, Chollerton;
·
Mary Robson
born Chipchase and christened 24 March 1822 at St Giles, Birtley married

4 months, at Pit House and was buried 3 March 1830 at St Giles, Birtley; and

Matthew Robson born
Pit House and christened 30 September 1832 at St Giles, Chollerton married Dorothy
Johnson on 12 April 1856 at St Giles, Chollerton.
Mary Robson
nee Hedley died at Pit House and was buried 24 December
1849 at St Giles, Birtley (no age stated).
Robert
Robson died at Pit House and was buried 20 September 1870 at
St Giles, Birtley, aged 85 years.
