illiam Jobling was born about 1720 in Delavel, St John’s Parish, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England and married Elizabeth Wallace on 5 May 1750 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne.

William, a boatman, and Elizabeth were the parents of:

· George Jobling born in Benwell and christened 27 December 1750 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne married Mary Hopper on 11 May 1776 at Holy Cross, Ryton, Co. Durham (more details below);

· Joseph Jobling born in Benwell and christened 26 July 1752 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne died in Benwell prior to 1763;

· Anne Jobling born in Benwell and christened 15 February 1755 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne;

· Bridget Jobling born in Benwell and christened 16 October 1757 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne married Thomas Cook on 10 October 1779 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne;

· William Jobling born in Benwell and christened 13 July 1760 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne died in Benwell and was buried on 31 December 1762 at St John the Baptist, aged 2 years;

· Joseph Jobling born in Benwell and christened 22 August 1763 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne;

· Elizabeth Jobling born in Benwell and christened 15 December 1765 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne;

· William Jobling born in Benwell and christened 30 July 1769 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne married Ann Hall; and

· Frances Jobling born in Benwell and christened 8 September 1771 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne died in Benwell and was buried at St John the Baptist on 14 February 1776, aged 4 years.

William Jobling died in Benwell, Newcastle upon Tyne prior to 1802.

Elizabeth Jobling nee Wallace died in Benwell Boat House on 30 October 1802 and was buried at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne on 1 November 1802, aged 74 years.

eorge Jobling was born in Benwell in the parish of St John’s, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England and christened on 27 December 1750 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne, the eldest son of William Jobling and Elizabeth Wallace.

George married Mary Hopper of Minsteracres on 11 May 1776 at Holy Cross, Ryton, Co. Durham.

George, a keelman, and Mary were the parents of:

· Frances Jobling born in Gateshead parish and christened 16 March 1777 at St Mary’s, Gateshead married William Henderson on 5 June 1797 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne;

· William Jobling born in Gateshead parish and christened 22 November 1778 at St Mary’s Gateshead;

· John Jobling born in Gateshead parish and christened 4 February 1781 at St Mary’s Gateshead married Isabella Lawson on 2 June 1804 at St Michael’s Newburn;

· George Jobling born in Gateshead parish and christened 9 March 1783 at St Mary’s Gateshead;

· Elizabeth Jobling born in Gateshead parish and christened 26 December 1784 at St Mary’s Gateshead married George Chilton on 26 December 1803 at St Michael’s Newburn;

· Jane Jobling born 25 April 1786 in Gateshead parish and christened 24 June 1787 at St Mary’s Gateshead married Joshua Rutter on 16 July 1808 at St Michael’s Newburn (more details below);

· Mary Jobling born in Gateshead parish and christened 15 November 1789 at St Mary’s Gateshead married George Haver on 19 June 1808 at St Michael’s Newburn;

· Joseph Jobling born 8 August 1792 in Benwell and christened 9 September 1792 at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne married Mary Hall on 5 December 1814 at St Michael’s, Newburn; and

· Hopper Jobling born 4 March 1799 in Newburn and christened 28 July 1799 at St Michael’s, Newburn [NOTE1] married Elizabeth Strong on 30 September 1833 at St Mary’s, Gateshead.

Mary Jobling nee Hopper died in Bell’s Close, Northumberland and was buried at St Michael’s, Newburn on 21 September 1824, aged 67 years.

George Jobling died in Bell’s Close and was buried on 30 January 1831 at St Michael’s, Newburn, aged 84 years.

J

ane Jobling was born on 25 April 1786 in the parish of Gateshead, Co. Durham England and christened 24 June 1787 at St Mary’s, Gateshead, the daughter of George Jobling and Mary Hopper.

Jane married Joshua Rutter (born 5 September 1785 in Gosforth, Northumberland, the son of Edward Rutter and Isabella Chance) on 16 July 1808 at St Michael’s, Newburn.

Jane Rutter nee Jobling died on 10 March 1847 in Blaydon, Co. Durham and was buried on 12 March 1847 at St Michael’s Newburn, Northumberland, aged 60 years.
