ohn Grisdale
was born in
Threlkeld, Cumberland England about 1789 (from 1851 Census) and could
possibly be the John Grisdale christened 20 September 1789 at St Kentigern’s,
Mungrisdale, the second son of John Grisdale and Agnes
Winder, although this has yet to be confirmed. John married Dinah Hunter
(born Keswick and christened on 25 January 1795 at St Kentigern’s,
Crosthwaite, the illegitimate daughter of Mary Hunter) on 28
May 1814 at St Kentigern’s, Crosthwaite. John, a woolen weaver, and Dinah
were the parents of:
John Grisdale died in Keswick prior to the 1861 census. Dinah Grisdale nee Hunter died in Keswick prior to the 1871 Census (there is a possible death on FreeBMD in the June quarter of 1861 in Cockermouth registration district, which needs to be confirmed). |

ane Grisdale
was born in Keswick,
Cumberland, England and christened 17 June 1815 at St Kentigern’s,
Crosthwaite, the [twin] daughter of John Grisdale and Dinah
Hunter. Jane married John Stanley of Keswick (christened 17 May 1815
at St Kentigern’s, Crosthwaite, the second child of John Stanley
and Deborah Proddow) on 27 July 1835 at St Kentigern’s,
Crosthwaite. More on the descendants of
Jane Grisdale and John Stanley can be found here. Jane Stanley nee Grisdale died on Main Street, Keswick and was buried on 23 April 1892 at St Kentigern’s, Crosthwaite, aged 76 years. |
