Jane Dalton was born in Great Salkeld, Cumberland, England and christened 20 September 1811 at St Cuthbert’s, Great Salkeld, the second child of Isaac Dalton and Anne Robinson.

 

Jane married Richard Atkinson of Newbiggin, Westmorland on 6 June 1835 at St Cuthbert’s, Great Salkeld.

 

Jane and Richard, an agricultural labourer, were the parents of:

 

·              Thomas Atkinson born in Great Salkeld and christened 21 August 1835 at St Cuthbert’s, Great Salkeld married Eleanor Faulkner on 25 June 1859 at Old Hutton, Westmorland;

 

·              Ann Atkinson born in Great Salkeld and christened 4 June 1837 at St Cuthbert’s, Great Salkeld;

 

·              William Atkinson born in Great Salkeld and christened 19 June 1839 at St Cuthbert’s, Great Salkeld;

 

·              John Atkinson born in Great Salkeld and christened 14 November 1841 at St Cuthbert’s, Great Salkeld married Mary Little in 1874;

 

·              Hannah Atkinson born in Great Salkeld and christened 3 December 1843 at St Cuthbert’s, Great Salkeld;

 

·              Jane Atkinson born in Great Salkeld and christened 17 May 1846 at St Cuthbert’s, Great Salkeld;

 

·              Mary Atkinson born in Great Salkeld and christened 14 February 1849 at St Cuthbert’s, Great Salkeld;

 

·              Margaret Atkinson born in the village of Salkeld Dykes, Great Salkeld and christened at St Cuthbert’s, Great Salkeld on 22 February 1852; and

 

·              Elizabeth Atkinson born in Great Salkeld and christened 21 April 1858 at St Cuthbert’s, Great Salkeld.

 

Jane Atkinson nee Dalton died in Great Salkeld in 1875, aged 64 years.

 

Richard Atkinson died in Great Salkeld in 1877 aged 70 years.
