Gawen Coulson was born in Gunnerton, Northumberland, England and christened on 2 June 1776 at St Giles, Chollerton, the fifth child of Edward Coulson and Elizabeth Anderson.

 

Gawen married Margaret Thompson at St Bartholomew’s, Kirkwhelpington on 4 November 1809:

Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine by me Jn Nicholson, Curate

This marriage was solemnized between us Gawen Coulson Margaret Thompson

Gawen, a mason, and Margaret were the parents of:

 

·         Elizabeth Coulson born in Kirkwhelpington on 6 October 1810 and christened at St Bartholomew’s, Kirkwhelpington on 25 December 1810;

 

·         Thomas Coulson born in Kirkwhelpington and christened 11 September 1812 at St Bartholomew’s, Kirkwhelpington;

 

·         William Coulson born in Kirkwhelpington and christened 7 December 1814 at St Bartholomew’s, Kirkwhelpington;

 

·         Martha Coulson (twin) born in Kirkwhelpington and christened 14 October 1815 at St Bartholomew’s, Kirkwhelpington died at just 1 hour old and was buried at St Bartholomew’s, Kirkwhelpington on 15 October 1815; Updated!

 

·         Eleanor Coulson (twin) born in Kirkwhelpington and christened 14 October 1815 at St Bartholomew’s, Kirkwhelpington died at just 1 hour old and was buried at St Bartholomew’s, Kirkwhelpington on 15 October 1815; Updated!

 

·         Edward Coulson born at Great Law, Kirkharle and christened 17 September 1817 at St Wilfred’s, Kirkharle died at Great Law, Kirkharle and was buried at St Bartholomew’s, Kirkwhelpington on 11 October 1817;

 

·         Eleanor Coulson born in Kenton, Gosforth and christened 13 November 1818 at St Nicholas, Gosforth; and New!

 

·         Ann Coulson born in Newcastle Upon Tyne and christened 6 October 1822 at St John’s, Newcastle. New!

 

There is a possible burial for Gawen at St Andrew’s, Newcastle Upon Tyne on 12 June 1832 aged 54 years.
