WORRY
Worrying about ANYTHING achieves absolutely nothing. Think about something else to replace the thoughts that are bugging you. Let go of what no longer works.
Simply resisting a thought doesn't work. By resisting it you actually reinforce it as it now becomes your focus, in a negative manner.
Your mind is your most vulnerable organ so you must keep it focused in the right direction, a positive one.
If you have to always focus on doing things right, it is probable that by now you are failing to do the right things.
PRESSURE
If sometimes you feel like the whole world is against you, remember that some of the smaller countries are neutral.
SLEEP
If the news or a violent action program is the last thing you take in before going to bed, no wonder you cannot relax and expect to go to sleep. A relaxant, not a stimulant, is required. Try listening to some gentle music for a change of pace. Tune in to Southern Star - Auckland 882 AM, Hamilton 576 AM, or Taupo 88.4 FM.
Reading a good book helps too. If you have never read or looked inside a bible, try reading the ever popular Psalm 23 for encouragement. And know this, Psalm 139 was written especially for you!
SPEECH
We all speak careless words sometimes. Your words either create or destroy, discourage or inspire, hurt or heal, so choose yours carefully today. A wise person said "Blessed are they who have nothing to say - and who can't be pursuaded to say it." Careless words are often the meaningless chatter you engage in when you've nothing important to contribute. As harmless as they seem, the more you do it, the more likely they are to deteriorate into gossip and criticism. Think on this: "Even fools are thought to be wise when they keep silent". (Proverbs 17:28)
And what we say to ourselves is the most importance message that we hear. If its demeaning, we will believe it. If its uplifting, we will believe it just the same. Make up your mind to say encouraging things to yourself for a change. What a difference it will make.
INSECURITY
Are you a christian who is still battling insecurity? If so, reflect on these ten Scriptural truths about yourself:
(1) I know God loves me and that He has a great plan for my life.
(2) Yes, I've faults, but God's working on me, changing me day by day; while He does, I can still enjoy my life.
(3) I realise I'll always have issues to deal with, so I won't be discouraged when God convicts me of areas that still need improvement.
(4) Everybody has weaknesses, so I'm not a failure just because I'm not perfect.
(5) I want people to like me, but my sense of worth isn't dependent on them. No, Jesus has already proven my worth by dying for me.
(6) I refuse to be controlled or manipulated by others. Even if they reject me I'll survive, for Jesus has promised never to leave me nor forsake me.
(7) No matter how often I fail I won't give up, because God is with me, to strengthen and sustain me.
(8) I like myself. I don't like everything I do and I want to change, but I refuse to reject myself because God
loves and accepts me as I am.
(9) In myself I may be nothing, but in Christ I'm everything I need to be.
(10) I matter to God. My life makes a difference. Regardless of the challenge, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Php 4:13).
