Crisis
in the Balkans – 1917
Background
This scenario is a fictional
battle based on the later war actions that might have occurred between the allied
forces present in the Balkans, and a possible Turkish force.
Designer’s notes
The action presented here is
entirely fictional, although it is always interesting to ponder the
what-ifs of history: what if the Turkish and allied forces facing a
stand-off in the Balkans had indeed been successful in manoeuvring around
one-another in the mountainous terrain in the region?
Objectives
Capture the river crossings, and
the town and village that are adjacent to these.
Entry points
Allied forces must enter from the
four grid squares indicated on the map.
Turkish forces may enter anywhere
on the opposite table edge indicated on the map.
| Victory Points |
|
| River crossings |
3 VP each |
| Town sector |
3 VP for both sectors, 1 VP
for one sector |
| Village |
2 VP |
Terrain
Second contours of all hills count
as difficult terrain, whilst third contours are impassable to all troops.
The grid squares on the map are 12” squares.
Allied OOB
Allied forces can comprise any
combination of allied forces that were present in the Balkans. For example
the main division could be British, with the attached regiment being an
ANZAC regiment. Alternatively players might use a combination of French
and British forces, or any other historically
appropriate combination.
