Fire stunt for indoor show

NB: Fire gel (produced by special effects companies) should
always be used instead of a less stable fuel like kerosene or petrol. Water
gel (a protective gel made by some SPFX companies) should be used to soak
two or three layers of woollen long johns worn underneath the clothing.
All skin and hair should be covered in water gel for extra protection.
It
is very dangerous to attempt to do a fire stunt using only wet underclothing
and real fuel. Don't! A safety crew of at least two trained people
with fire extinguishers and one with a wet blanket are needed to put out
the flames. Fire stunts are very dangerous and there have been some horrific
injuries to both the person doing the fire stunt and their safety crew
during live shows. In the early days of my learning how to do them, I got
a couple of nasty 2nd and 3rd degree blisters on the back of my legs doing
a fire stunt without adequate safety precautions. It was a valuable lesson.
Now, for all types of stunts, I am extra safety conscious.
