Freud can't have been all bad.
He had a German shepherd called Wolf.
One day in Vienna, Wolf took off and got lost.
The Freud family search frantically but could not find him.Later in the day a taxi pulled up and out jumped Wolf. He had according to the driver, climbed into the taxi and refused to get out. The driver read his name and address tag and drove him home where he happily jump out.
Many thanks to Richard Torregrosse and Bonker's magazine for the delightful tale.
Of course in New Zealand dogs just thumb a lift home when they've had a night on the tiles. Well at least I knew one dog called Zak who used to hitch rides home after making cross town visits to Holly. Blokes often told me they gave Zak lifts when they saw him heading home. Don't know how he elicited the behaviour. Guess you had to be there.
