Be
spontaneous ...today
G'day G'day Folks,
For a little bed time reading I delved into Jay Haley's Uncommon
Therapy.
"The hypnotist directs another person to spontaneously change
their behaviour."
Now, there's a thought to dwell on in a dream like state. But why
another person? What happens if I direct myself to spontaneously
change my own behaviour?
To take the idea further I quote, "The hypnotist directs the
subject to do something he can *voluntarily* do, such as look at a
point, concentrate on a point, sit in a certain position, think of an
image, and so on. Next, the hypnotist, directs the subject to respond
with *involuntarily* or spontaneous behaviour."
I guess someone might want to do that for someone else if they
were being paid sufficiently or they were feeling particularly charitable that day but wasn't charity meant
to start at home. So how can I put this idea into regular practice
for myself?
Here are my day one efforts.
"Tonight I am going for a swim and feeling curious about the
unexpected pleasures of engaging in shared activities."
"Today I am preparing lessons and wondering when I will first
notice that a new educational strategy has spontaneously occurred to
me. "
When you read this you could email me and ask if this is a
traditional Kiwi send up. Something I've put together over a six pack
with my mates. Or you could take say five activities that you intend
engaging in today and force yourself to add something spontaneously,
riotously successful to each of your plans. Bet you can't freely find
that in your usual day planner. Until now that is. Because you too
can make it one of your better ideas.
