Well October is here and we are knitting madly to prepare for the next New Zealand Craft Show in our city. It will be our first time at the show as crafters (as well as shoppers).
Over the decades that I have been knitting and teaching my daughters to knit we have come up with some "innovative/ interesting" ideas and patterns. But rarely have I had so much pleasure in a project as I am at present, knitting the Jean Greehowe's Red nose clowns. I started knitting novelty toys many years ago as gifts and never thought much about my knitting as a valued talent until recently. When it came to my attention that at the craft shows here in New Zealand many of the knitted garments for sale and show were missing. Most knitters have been specialising in baby clothing. I wanted to do something different and am very glad I have kept stored away many of my old originals and other patterns from magazines. I started sorting them out into catalogues and they truly brought back some wonderful memories. My daughter Ana and I have also had a very interesting time over the past year or so, searching out treasured old novelty patterns from some of the strangest places. We have had many people, with whom we have only been distantly acquainted, delighted to give us patterns they want 'put to good use'. We hope you enjoy watching our website grow as much as we have enjoyed starting and developing this website. Kind regards |
