teve McIntyre is a man who is passionate about his trade--building. It was no surprise therefore, that when he wanted to promote the carpentry course at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology he would make sure that everyone who was likely to be interested would hear about it. Steve promoted an open day through the Careers Expo and in mid-July over 80 students turned up to find out if the building trade was for them. To break the ice students had their skills in hammering nails, carrying heavy weight and working out maths problems and building terminology tested.
