Notes:
1. Battle begins on the 8:00 am turn and ends at the end of the 6:00 pm
turn (night) for a game length of 11 turns. The Austrians are the attackers.
2. The Austrians advanced under cover of a dense fog which lifted as
they approached the French positions. The Austrian attacking troops are thus placed very
close to the French on the 8:00 am turn and to represent the complete surprise with which
they struck, the French may not be stationary.
3. Karl arrives at Sztaray's position at 11:30 (place on-table near
Sztaray on the 11:00 turn and allow him half a move).
4. Austrian deployments and arrival times:
- Kienmayer 8:00am. Left Flank. SW of Wurzburg.
- Hiller/Carnisius 8:00am. Left Centre. NE of Wurzburg.
- Montfraut/Bartels/Finke 8:00am. Centre. On Repperndorf Hills.
- Kaim 8:00am. Right Centre. Near Estenfeld Wood.
- Lichtenstein 8:00am. Right Flank. On Estenfeld Hills.
- Hohenlohe/Hadik/Gorger (less lt inf) 11:00am. Far Right. Prosselheim.
- 5 lt inf btns from above commands. 1:00pm. Far Right.
Dipbach.Riesch/Colloredo/Prinz Lothringen 12:00noon. Bibergau.
Schottendorf/Prinz von Oranien/Staader 1:00pm. Dipbach.
- Kollowrat/Schneilenburg/Vogelsang 3:00pm. Bibergau.
5. The mixed cavalry brigade in the Avant Garde of Sztaray's Corps
comprises CR37 Coburg Dragoons (1sq), CR19 Levenehr Chevauleger (1sq), CR5 Herzog Albert
Carabinier (2sq), CR7 Kinsky Chevauleger (6sq).
6. All Austrian, Imperial and French Emigre Line Regts have battalion
guns.
7. I have downrated the Imperial and Emigre units to M4.
8. The Austrian army is a painters delight. It has numerous Grenzer,
Freikorps, French Royalist Emigre and Imperial Contingent troops present as well as a
lovely chunk of Grenadiers. If you are an Austrophile you'll be in heaven. I think this is
one of the nicest wargames armies I have ever come across. Put it on the table and no-one
will believe you when you tell them it really existed.
9. Elsnitz and Lefebvre. These two opposing divisions were watching each
other off to the north. As a what if, allow Jourdan to recall Lefebvre. The French player
begins dicing in the afternoon, requiring a 1 on the 1:00pm turn, a 1 or 2 on the 2:00pm
turn and so on. Lefebvre will arrive down the road from Schweinfurt in march column.
Elsnitz will arrive deployed the turn later in the area Dipbach- Heiligenstadt Woods.
10. All Austro-Imperial-Emigre infantry are on regiment stands.
