Prussian Notes:
1. Col. Mollers guns were 18 pounders. I
have listed them as sb-sg.
2. Turn 1 is 3:00 p.m. when Moller's guns open
fire and Seydlitz begins his first charge.
3. The battle ends at the end of the 6:00 p.m.
turn when darkness falls. The Prussians are the attackers.
4. This was perhaps the finest army Frederick
ever commanded, undiluted by foreigners and with no fusilier regts present. I have rated
all formations as 60% exhaustion.
5. *=shock troops. g=grenadiers present.
bg=battalion guns. [s]=may detach this SP as a skirmisher.

French Notes:
1. All infantry have grenadiers present and battalion guns, except the
Croats who have no grenadiers.
2. The army starts deployed thus:
- The Austrian brigades of the 1st Cavalry Column are deployed.
- St Germain's Wing and Loudon's Flying Column are deployed.
- French Inf Regt Piemont (split across the fronts of the left and right
infantry columns) which is covering the advance of the infantry main body is deployed.
- The balance of 1st Cavalry Column, and all of 2nd Cavalry Column and the
infantry main body is in march column.
- The infantry main body should be deployed with only about an inch between
columns.
3. The Allied command structure was difficult to represent. The army was
hopelessly sluggish, the high command was riven by petty jealousies, it's CinC was a lazy
clueless so and so and command control was amateurish. The army was basically caught in
march column and destroyed within one hour. I thought about limitations on the number of
units players could deploy, or not being allowed to deploy until a certain time, etc but
eventually decided to take a leaf from the Frank Chadwick book of wargame command and let
the players try their best to retrieve a nearly hopeless situation with their own skills.
To make it interesting for them I seriously limited the army's ability to manouver
sub-units by giving the main force only three commanders. Sachsen-Hildburghausen starts
the game with the 1st cav column. 2nd cav column should begin the game out of command.
Soubise and Chevert between them lead the main infantry body.
By necessity therefore the Allied columns will be closely packed -
probably mostly touching. Have fun.
A 6'x10' table is required to place St Germains and Loudons
formations on at the start. If this space is not available, they arrive about 5:00p.m. to
cover the retreat. They actually begin the battle 3 1/2 and 3 miles away from the main
army.
