Shiloh Errata

This scenario is detailed in the V&B Scenario book "Battles of the American Civil War". The following suggestions and clarifications may be of use.

Deployment Errata:

The Union army forces, with the exception of Stuart's brigade should start the game in the Pittsburg Landing area.

Questions:

Q. Should the victory conditions include the destruction of Grant's Army, capture of the village, one or the other, both?

A. The capture of the Landing is the Conferate best chance for victory. If Grant's Army get's destroyed it is a Confederate victory, but much harder to do.

Q. Does the game end immediately when the Confederates capture the village?

A. I would let the Union keep fighting until nightfall in an attempt to recapture the landing. However if the Rebs still hold it at the end of the day the Union army is lost.

Q. If the landing is captured before the Union reinforcements arrive, Nelson's Division at Pitt's Landing at 6 p.m, what happens to the reinforcements?

A. The Union troops (Nelson) sit on the far bank and watch helplessly. Historically they were ferried across the river in civilian transports. An assualt landing is out of the question.

Q. What is the normal condition of the troops arriving at Pitt's Landing? Are they deployed, in column, disordered, etc.?

A. Consider them either in march column or disordered. They shold come ashore 1 brigade a turn.
