In early April 2006 Frank Chadwick made a major announcement regarding the publication of a second edition of Volley and Bayonet.

He advised that his publication arrangement with Foundry was over, and that he plans to publish the second edition of Volley & Bayonet some time next year, that is during 2007. It would seem that the parting with Foundry was amicable.

He wrote that while separate large books with rules, orders of battle and painting guides for each period made excellent sense for Founry's business plan, being centered as much on selling toy soldier as rules, it did not make such sense for him going forward. Therefore when Volley & Bayonet reappears it will be as a single combined set of rules covering the entire period.  

In addition there will be a series of campaign sourcebooks supporting each period in more detail. The Napoleonic and Seven Years War sourcebooks will come first, both because of interst and because so much of the work is done.
