After crossing the Nullabor we settled in Port Augusta in South Australia and it was here we were to see the BLUE STREAK rocket cutting through the morning sky. The Woomera Rocket Range, was north of Port Augusta. |

Travelling across 750 miles of dirt road on the Nullabor Desert in May 1965, we encountered not only bulldust but the first rainfall in seven years. The road was fraught with problems, with fresh water tanks being full of bullet holes, cars burnt out where they had come to rest after a breakdown and in one area the road so corrugated we could only travel at seven miles an hour. |
