Conquering Everest |
Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world. In 1953 it was conquered by Edmund Hilary, a New Zealander. After this he became Sir Edmund Hilary. Mount Everest is located in Nepal and Sir Edmund Hilary was not alone; he was accompanied by Sherpa Tenzing Norgay.
Now you can see Edmund Hilary's face on New Zealand bank notes.

His son Peter Hilary has taken up his father's occupation and is now a famous New Zealand mountaineer.
