Christmas! |
We celebrate Christmas on the 25 of December every year. This was the date that Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem. His parents were called Joseph and Mary. Three wise men and three Kings came to give him presents shortly after his birth. Jesus was born to save the world from its sins. He was crucified on the cross.
Now 2000 years later we celebrate Christmas by giving presents to other members of our family. In New Zealand little children believe that Father Christmas brings the presents in his sleigh from the North Pole. In other countries Father Christmas is called Santa Claus or Saint Nicholas.
Last Christmas we were in Perth in Australia and we spent Christmas Day with our friends. We had crayfish and cold things for lunch and we swam in the pool and played in the park next door. In the Northern Hemisphere it snows and people have roast turkey for dinner.
