     James Henderson was born on 24 Nov 1839 in Freswick, Canisbay, CAI, SCT.1,2 He was christened on 15 Jan 1840 in the Par. of Canisbay, CAI, SCT; s/o David and Bell (Manson).1 Some sources believe James Henderson was born c Feb 1842 in SCT as the informant for his dth gave his age as 76 in 1918, and the 1901 census has Feb 1842.3,4
     James Henderson married Margaret Wallace on 14 Nov 1873 in Port Perry, Reach Twp, ONT, CAN.2
     James Henderson died on 29 May 1918 at Vancouver, BRC, CAN, at age 78; reg #1918-09-152906 (age given as 76).5,3
     He appeared on the census of 7 Jun 1841 at Skirsa, Canisbay, CAI, SCT, in the household of David Henderson and Bel Henderson.6,7,8 James Henderson lived fr 1851 - 1861 Freswick, Canisbay, CAI, in the household of his father David.9,10
     James Henderson immigrated c 1869 to ONT, CAN; "jumped ship in the 1870s and came west with the CPR."11,5,4
     James and Margaret Henderson appeared on the census of 1881 in Springfield, Selkirk, MAN, CAN, as HENDERSON: James, 38, b SCT C Presb; Margaret, 28, b Ireland C of E; Mary, 6 b ONT; Isabella, 3 b ONT both C Presby.12 By 1889 James Henderson was living at Whonnock, BRC, CAN, a station on the main line of the CPR, 33 miles from Vancouver, James a section foreman.13
     James Henderson appeared on the census of 1891 at W 1 1/2 / 7, Maple Ridge, New Westminster, BRC, CAN, with Margaret Wallace, enumerated as HENDERSON: James 48 b SCT F/M b SCT section foreman; wife Margaret 37 b Ireland, F/M b SCT (I think. dittos); Children: Mary 16, Ella 13, both b ONT; Edith 7, Bessie 5 both b MAN; Gertrude 11/12 b BRC; Domestics: Sing SAM, Kay GEO, both b China F/M b China, railway labourers.14
     James Henderson appeared on the census of 1901 at Dewdney, Dist of New Westminster, BRC, CAN, with Margaret Wallace, enumerated as HENDERSON: James 59 b Feby 1842 SCT emig 1868 ; wife Margaret b 25 Mar 1853 IRL; Dtrs: Edith 17 b 7 Feb 1884, Bessie 14 b 12 Aug 1887 both b MAN; Gertrude 10 b 23 Jun 1891 b BC.4 It is possible that James Henderson and Margaret Wallace were at 2304 Cambridge St, Vancouver, BRC, CAN, in 1911 HENDERSON: James 67 b 6 Sep 1844, SCT retired; wife Margaret 57, b 1854 SCT both emig 1909 (although Margaret's entry might read 1904?); Dtr Bessie b 1 Aug 1886 MAN; (this data sort of fits Margaret but doesn't really fit the rest!).15
