     Her surname was also spelt Stuart both in the 1861 & 1881 census and in the 1839 Yetholm OPR record of marriage.5,4,6
     Alison Stewart and Peter Stewart appeared on the census of 7 Jun 1841 at Burn Wynd, Jedburgh, ROX, SCT, and are assumed to be husband and wife. They were enumerated as STEWART: Peter 50 ag lab b SCT; Alison 30 b ROX; Marian 13, Agnes 8 mths both b ROX. (Marian looks like she might belong to a first marraige for Peter).7
     Alison Stewart appeared on the census of 1851 at Town Yetholm, Par. of Yetholm, ROX, SCT, enumerated as STEWART: Alison 41 widow, biscuit baker & dealer of sweetmeat, pauper, ag lab b Morebattle; Children: Agnes 9 b Yetholm; Gilbert 8 b Jedburgh, both scholars.8
     Alison Stuart appeared on the census of 1861 at 31 Canongate, Jedburgh, ROX, SCT, as neighbour of William Hood and Ann Hood.9 Alison Stuart appeared on the census of 7 Apr 1861 at at 23 Canongate, Jedburgh, ROX, SCT, in the household of Thomas Mabon and Agnes Mabon as mother-in-law of Thomas Mabon.5 Alison Stewart appeared on the census of 1871 at 69 Castlegate, Jedburgh, ROX, SCT, in the household of Thomas Mabon and Agnes Mabon MABON: Thomas 35 woolspinner b Jedburgh; wife Agnes 29 b Yetholm; Children: Alice 10, Patrick S 5 both scholars, Agnes 3 all b Jedburgh; Step mother Alison HOOD, 60 b Jedburgh(presumed to be mother-in-law Alison Stewart nee Fairbairn as I can't find her anywhere else, Hood being both the married name of Alison's sister Ann living nearby, and her brother Archibald's wife's surname).10 Alison Stuart appeared on the census of 1881 at Jedburgh, ROX, in the household of Thomas Mabon and Agnes Mabon as mother-in-law of Thomas Mabon.6
