     Donald Manson was born on 1 Jan 1796 at Coghill, Watten, CAI, SCT, (Where did 1 Jan come from? Not in my extract from the Watten bap. OPRs. NB Ian A has birth date as 1 Jul which can't be correct as chr 6 March).3,4 He was christened on 6 Mar 1796 in the Par. of Watten, CAI, SCT; Entry reads: Mar 6th 1796: James Manson in Cogill and Christan Georgeson his spouse son Donald wit. Alex Doull and John Doull both in Cogill.1 Some sources believe Donald was born c 1800 at Watten, CAI, SCT, but this could be as much as 5 yrs either way given the rounding applied in the 1841 census.5
     Donald Manson married Isabella Sinclair MacAdie, daughter of Robert MacAdie and Margaret Sinclair, on 1 Dec 1826 in the Par. of Wick, CAI, SCT, OPR entry reads: Nov 3rd 1826 Manson Donald in Coghill Parish of Watten was maty Contr to Isobel MacAdie daug. of Robert MacAdie in Mireland. Wm Rosie cooper in Wick (assumed to be Isabella's new brother-in-law) stood for the man and Wm MacAdie in Mireland (assumed to be Isabella's brother) for the woman, married Dec 1st. IGI: "Donald Manson to Isobel MacKadie.6,7"
     Donald Manson was estimated to have died bt 1841 - 1851 probably at ?Coghill, Watten, CAI, SCT, as not with family in the 1851 census.8
     Merle C. believed that Donald's parents were Donald and Catherine Calder but that Donald's baptism reads more like Murson than Manson and being in 1803 the age doesn't quite match. Parents named James and Christan fit the Scottish naming pattern for the children of Donald and Isabella.9
     Donald Manson witnessed the christening of John Smith on 25 Mar 1819 Par. of Watten, CAI.10,11
     In Dec 1826 Donald Manson was living Coghill, Watten, CAI.6 Fr Jan 1828 - Dec 1840 Donald and Bel were living Coghill, Watten, CAI.12
     Donald Manson appeared on the census of 7 Jun 1841 at Cogle, Watten, CAI, SCT, with Bel Manson, as Manson: Donald Head, 40 farmer; Bel, 40; also Sinclair 13; James 10; Robert 8; Donald 5; George 3 and Christina 6mths (NB enumerators were instructed to round ages down to the nearest multiple of 5).13,14 Donald Manson was given as a farmer on the dth cert of son George in 1912 ?CAI, SCT.15
