THE SACRAMENT OF ORDINATION

Priests serving within The Christian Community receive the responsibility and the authority necessary for their sacramental, pastoral and teaching tasks through the sacrament of ordination. Ordination is the culmination of seminary training and practical experience in established communities.

Normally a first step towards ordination is to become a member of The Christian Community and to become practically involved in a local congregation. Out of this 'grass roots' experience the basis forms upon which the first decision can be made - to apply to go to one of the seminaries. From there, a further process leads an individual closer towards the final decision - whether to receive ordination or not. The decision is a big responsibility and it has to be shared with others who are involved in the process, especially the priests who guide the training process.

Currently seminary training is available in Chicago, Hamburg, and Stuttgart. Normally, a reasonable grasp of the German language has to be acquired if that hasn't already happened.
