THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

Baptism belongs as near to birth as possible. It profoundly welcomes a soul into the earthly world and its human society. The child hears its own name spoken - and it hears the name of Christ. Two human beings are given the special task of being parents for God, i.e. godparents. Baptism is a blessing not only for the child, but for all who gather for it.
