Lightning can strike at anytime except when there are no clouds in the sky. Even with a clear sky
it can strike from a distant thundercloud.[It is called a bolt from the blue] It can strike from cloud to ground or from cloud to cloud. There will be occasions when the lightning detector will show strikes that are not visible. Remember that the lightning detector has a design range of at least 25 km.
