Embe
- our sweetest little girl, still a kitten really, but you know girls these days. Embe had been on holiday with a friend of ours when she fell pregnant. So without shame she returned home. Was she really pregnant? Like her big sister Mishka, it was hard to tell. We worked hard out to construct a new cattery, complete with nursery. We duly noted the date on the calendar and watched the days pass. If she’s pregnant she’ll drop them today, announced Susan, the sceptic. We went out for one last look. Embe shrieked, either at us or the big red head forcing its way into the world. Big Red was followed by a tiny tabby so we assumed that was her lot, given that she was so slim and all, barely pregnant. Later she had two more. Good girl, we say, you rest now. But half an hour later she’s still sitting upright with a rather stunned look in her eyes. And she eventually had six gorgeous, curly kittens. 6!
