Accommodation at Wanganui

The entry form booklet contains a number of accomodation suggestions. Here's additional information:

WANGANUI
Wanganui is a mature city at the mouth of the historic and scenic Whanganui River. It combines the cultural facilities of the city with river adventures such as jetboating and canoeing. The city's museum has an unequalled Maori Court, priceless Lindauer paintings and displays depicting early Wanganui. Many parks and gardens enhance Wanganui's charm. Visit Dune Hill lookout for views out to the coast. To the north is remote Whanganui National Park, popular for tramping and hunting.

For more information contact Wanganui Visitor Information Centre, P0 Box 637, 101 Guyton Street, Wanganui, phone 06 349 0508, fax 06 349 0509, email info@wanganui.govt.nz

AD ASTRA HOSTEL, Wanganui Girls College (see the Entry Form).
Entrants have been asking whether there are cooking facilites for those who don't want to take advantage of the prepared meals. Unfortunately the hostel does not allow for this, but there will be facilities for making tea in each dormitory, and one or two fridges available. You'd therefore be able buy milk for your corn flakes and muesli - but it won't be possible to cook your own bacon and eggs (even if you bring your own cooker!).
