New Zealand's national emblem, a flightless, nocturnal bird called the kiwi, has been reintroduced to Boundary Stream in the Maungaharuru Range. Sadly, due to predation by stoats and other introduced animals, your chances of seeing a kiwi anywhere - let alone crossing the road - are slim.
