Lahic [Azerbaijan, 2004]
Mules are still a vital form of transport in the village
of Lahic, where poor roads and rugged terrain keep cars - and many other
trappings of modern life - at bay.
The bridge in the background was to have been part of a road across the
Caucasus mountains to Quba, but work ground to a halt when the Soviet
Union collapsed in the early 1990s.
