The great thing about travelling in Romania is that everyone wants to talk and everyone wants their photo taken. Hitch-hiking around the Transylvanian Alps in summer 1997 turned into a kind of photographic odyssey.

In one village - just off the main road between Sighisoara and Medias - I had to photograph almost everyone, form Romany (gypsy) children to woodsmen. These are just a few residents of the village Saros pe Tirnave.
